The Ministry of Development has published the list of 123 products that have so far been included in the price reduction initiative, which ranges from 6% to 15%.
This price reduction initiative is part of an invitation by the Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, to all food suppliers, branded consumer product suppliers, and the organized retail sector (supermarkets) in the country.
Both suppliers and organized retail have responded positively to the minister’s invitation, and by the end of October, approximately 123 product codes will be available in supermarkets with the new reduced prices, marking the start of the initiative.

It is expected that this initiative will intensify in the coming weeks, with estimates that gradually more than 600 product codes from various suppliers, including members of the Federation of Hellenic Food Industries (SEVT), the Hellenic Association of Branded Product Industries (ESVEP), and other suppliers, will participate in the initiative.
“By the end of October, approximately 120 product codes with new reduced prices will be available, marking the beginning of this initiative, while gradually more than 600 product codes from various suppliers will participate,” stated government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis yesterday.
Today, the Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos, also referred to supermarket price reductions and inflation. He noted on SKAI, “This time last year, food inflation was at 10.4%, while now it stands at 3%, and if it weren’t for the 60% increase in oil prices from last year, it would be at 1%.”
“Obviously, during the summer, there were products whose prices decreased, but there were also products whose prices increased due to higher demand, such as fish. We are working on a threefold approach: First, we ask businesses for responsibility, which is a good thing with the 120 products. Second, the government conducts inspections. Finally, we, the consumers, should buy where it benefits us,” Theodorikakos added.
