Two arrested for fires in Ritsona, Evia, and Kos

On Thursday (24/10), authorities arrested two individuals in connection with fires in Ritsona, Evia, and on the island of Kos.

Specifically, a foreign national was arrested by officers of the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.), with the assistance of investigative personnel from the Fire Brigade of Central Greece. He was detained for attempted arson with intent in a forested area at the “Balagari” location in Ritsona, within the Municipality of Chalkida, Evia, and was fined €1,687.50.

He is currently being held and will be presented today before the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance in Chalkida.

Meanwhile, another foreign national was arrested under the act-in-progress procedure by investigative officers of the Kos Fire Department for negligent arson in an agricultural and forested area, in violation of existing legislation, in the Kefalos area of Kos island. He was fined €4,960.

He will be brought before the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance in Kos today.
