Weather: October leaves with a slight drop in temperature and gusty north winds

With gusty northerly winds and a slight drop in temperature, October bids us farewell, while a few localised showers are expected in areas such as Thessaloniki, Larissa, Karditsa, Evia and Crete.

Next week, “bitter” cold weather is expected, according to the forecast of Sakis Arnaoutoglou. Specifically, today there will be more phenomena in Thermaikos, Thessaly, Evia and Volos, as well as in the southwest of the Peloponnese, while more rain is expected in Crete. On Friday and Saturday there will be no rain in the whole territory, while on Sunday there may be a few phenomena in Magnesia, Evia and Larissa. From the beginning of the new week, on Tuesday, November 5, a sharp drop in temperature is expected, a total change in the weather scene, without the characteristics of this change having yet been determined, the meteorologist says.

For air masses coming from Ukraine and will cause a drop in temperature by 5 to 7 degrees, has spoken and the director of EMY Thodoris Kolydas, who notes that the cold coming will not be … polar.

Sunshine is forecast with a few clouds, increasing in the eastern and southern parts, with a chance of local rain in Thessaly, Sporades, Evia, southern Peloponnese and in the mountains and northern parts of Crete. The temperature will range from 8 to 22 degrees in Northern Greece (in Western Macedonia from 4 to 17 degrees), 10 to 21 degrees in Central and Southern Greece, 11 to 25 degrees in Western Greece (in Epirus from 9 to 21 degrees), 14 to 20 degrees in the Cyclades and Crete, 13 to 22 degrees in the East Aegean islands and 14 to 25 degrees in the Dodecanese.

The winds will blow in the Aegean Sea from northern directions moderate to strong 5-6 Beaufort and locally in the Central Aegean and Libyan Sea almost gusty 7 Beaufort, while in the Ionian Sea generally from eastern directions weak and locally in the Central Ionian Sea almost moderate 4 Beaufort.

FRIDAY 01-11-2024
In the remaining areas generally clear weather. Thin clouds from the evening hours.
Visibility will be limited in places mainly in the west and the northern continents in the morning hours.
Winds will blow in the west east northeast 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually becoming north northwest with the same intensity. In the east will blow from the north 4 to 6 and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort, gradually weakening from the afternoon.
The temperature will not show any significant change. It will reach in the northern mainland, the Cyclades and northern Crete 21 to 23 degrees Celsius, in the rest of the mainland and the Ionian Sea 24 to 25 and locally in southern Crete and the Dodecanese 26 degrees Celsius.

In the eastern and northern mainland and gradually in Crete and the southern Ionian Sea increasing clouds with local rain mainly in eastern Thessaly, the Sporades, Evia and the northern parts of eastern Central Greece. In the rest of the regions, the weather will be generally clear at first, but gradually a few clouds will develop, partly increasing.
Visibility will be limited in places, mainly in the western mainland in the morning hours.
Winds will blow in the west initially north-northwest 3 to 5 Beaufort and will quickly shift to east 4 to 6 Beaufort. In the east the winds will blow from the north 4 to 6 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort with a tendency to strengthen in the evening hours.
The temperature will drop in the north and east.

MONDAY 04-11-2024
In the eastern and northern mainland (except Thrace), in Crete and the marine parts of the southern Ionian Sea, increasing clouds with some local rain. From midday improvement in the mainland. In the remaining areas, generally clear weather with a few occasional clouds.
Visibility will be limited in some places in the continental areas in the morning hours.
Winds will blow in the west initially from eastern directions 4 to 6 Beaufort and gradually north-northwestern 3 to 4 Beaufort. In the east will blow from the north 4 to 6 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea 6 to 7 and locally 8 Beaufort with gradual weakening.
The temperature will rise slightly in the north and east.
