Graduates who wish to be admitted to AEI to continue their studies in another undergraduate program must submit applications and documents to the admissions department by November 15. It should be noted that in this case, they do not take Panhellenic examinations again.

The qualifying examinations

Through the qualifying examinations, graduates of a university school can be admitted to a different undergraduate course of study in order to obtain a second degree without having to take the national examinations again.

Who is eligible to participate in the qualifying examinations

Graduates of Universities and TEI of Greece or abroad (recognized by the I.O.A.T.A.P.), graduates of IEKs as well as holders of diplomas of Higher Schools of two-year and more than two-year cycle of studies under the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture, Education and Religious Affairs and other Ministries.

When the qualifying examinations are held

The qualifying examinations will take place between December 1 and December 20.

The exact schedule will be announced by the Secretariats of the Host Departments or A.S.P.I.T.E. at least ten (10) days before the examination of the first course.
Applications for the qualifying examinations will be accepted by the host department until November 15.

The necessary supporting documents

In the case of foreign graduates, a certificate of equivalence of their degree from the Interdisciplinary Organization for the Recognition of Academic and Information Degrees (D.O.A.A.T.A.P.) or from the body responsible for the recognition of the degree must also be submitted.

It should be noted that graduates are not required to pay a deposit to participate as candidates in the university qualifying examinations.

The syllabus of the examination and the selection of successful candidates

By the end of April each year, University Departments post the syllabus of the qualifying examinations on their websites.
The selection of candidates for placement of graduates is made exclusively by means of qualifying examinations with development subjects in three subjects, as specifically defined in the Internal Regulations of the relevant university.
Successful candidates are placed based on the total marks they secure in all three subjects.
In terms of the number of admissions, the percentage of placements of graduates of Universities, TEIs or equivalent to them, A.S.P.A.T.E., of Greece or abroad (recognized by the I.O.A.T.A.P.), as well as holders of degrees from higher schools of over two-year and two-year courses of study under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and other Ministries, was set at 12% of the number of admissions.
The percentage of placements may not be exceeded. It is also clarified that candidates who are equal to the last ranked candidate in the host department as over-ranked are not allowed to be selected.

Results

Usually in February, the results of the qualifying examinations are announced. Interested persons are informed from the websites of the admission department.

In which semester the successful candidates are placed

If some of the courses of the department from which the successful candidates come from coincide with courses or exercises in the curriculum of the host department, which the successful candidates have been fully or adequately taught in the department or school of origin, then the Assembly of the department of the university may decide to exempt the successful candidates from these courses.

By the same decision, matriculants shall be required to take examinations in courses or exercises which, according to the curriculum, are judged not to have been fully or adequately taught in the Department or School of origin.

In any case, placement candidates are exempted from taking the courses in which they were examined for their placement if these courses correspond to courses in the curriculum of the host Department.

The Department Assembly then decides in which semester the students who pass the qualifying examinations will be admitted.

The semester of classification of graduates in a department is defined in the Internal Regulations of the relevant university and cannot be longer than the 7th semester for departments of six-year schools or the 5th semester for five-year or four-year schools.

The Classification Committee

The classification of graduates is carried out by the Classification Committee which is
The Classification Committee consists of seven members, is constituted by the decision of the Assembly of the Department of the University or the ASPAT, and carries out the classification of graduates.
It consists of the President of the Department of the University or the University of PASTE and 6 Professors as members.

The members of the Committee must be from the same Department and two of them must teach the subject of each examined course or a related subject.

In the case of a shortage of members, it is possible to appoint a member or members of the Committee from another Department of the same University teaching the same or a related subject or, in the case of a shortage, from another institution.

The Classification Committee must ensure the transparency and impartiality of the process.

The subject selection process

The members of the Ranking Committee shall arrive at the examination venue 2 hours before the commencement of the examination of each examined subject.

The two members of the Committee, who teach the subject or related subject being examined at any one time, shall jointly propose at least 6 subjects and the Committee shall select 3 of them. A lottery shall be held to select one topic for each subject examined. The subject drawn shall be recorded in electronic form, reproduced, and distributed to the candidates.
