France France and Britain will support Ukraine for as long as necessary to stop Russian aggression against Russia, French President Emanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Kire Starmer said.
The two leaders took part in Armistice Day celebrations, marking the end of World War I, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Paris.
As the BBC notes, Macron personally invited the British prime minister on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale, the Cordial Understanding between France and the United Kingdom, which paved the way for greater diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
In a statement from the Elysee Palace, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment “to support Ukraine unwaveringly and for as long as necessary to stop Russia’s war of aggression.”
Despite this, the two leaders did not say whether they would allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles for attacks inside Russian territory. Recall that the U.S. has not given Ukraine permission to use its own weapons inside Russian territory to prevent the crisis from escalating.
All this comes amid the impending change in the White House and the January inauguration of Donald Trump, who has urged the Russian side not to escalate the war.
