General strike have declared GSEE and ADEDY - Work stoppages on most public transport - Details of the last routes

Today, the movement of the public will be disrupted due to the participation of transportation workers’ unions in the 24-hour nationwide strike organized by GSEE and ADEDY.

Traffic observed early in the morning is manageable, as many likely opted for remote work. The most significant issues are reported once again on Kifisos Avenue, parts of Kifisias Avenue, and Leoforos Kareas-Alimou.

Problems are also present on the Attiki Odos motorway. Specifically, delays of 5 to 10 minutes are recorded at the Lamia exit heading toward Elefsina, and 5 to 10 minutes heading toward the airport, from the Metamorfosi junction to the Irakleio junction.

Blue buses and trolleys will operate today from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., according to announcements by the OASA Workers’ Union and the Board of Directors of the ILPAP Workers’ Association.

The Metro Line 1 (Piraeus-Kifisia) will run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., while Lines 2 and 3 will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Tram will run from 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Athens Fixed Route Workers’ Union (SELMA) announced work stoppages from the beginning of operations until 9:00 a.m. and from 9:00 p.m. until the end of operations to facilitate striking demonstrators and enable mass participation in rallies.

Trains of OSE and Proastiakos will remain stationary for 24 hours. A limited number of routes will operate with emergency staff.

Ships will remain docked at ports from 12:01 a.m. until 12:00 midnight, as the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) participates in the strike. Their key demands include addressing the housing crisis, restoring collective labor rights, and tackling the decline in workers’ purchasing power.

In Thessaloniki, OASTH workers are going on strike. Only 50 buses will operate with emergency staff, while services for people with disabilities and the airport night route (N1) will function as usual.

Urban bus routes operated by the Attica Transport Consortium and KTEL will run as usual throughout the day.

In the public sector, tax offices, social security funds, urban planning offices, regional government offices, and municipal services will operate at reduced capacity. Teachers from all educational levels in both public and private sectors have declared participation in the strike. Additionally, construction workers, hospital doctors, and bank employees have announced participation in the November 20th 24-hour strike.

Access to downtown Athens will be challenging from 9:30 a.m. due to scheduled rallies.

GSEE and ADEDY will hold a protest gathering at Klafthmonos Square on Wednesday, November 20th, at 11:00 a.m., while PAME will gather at Propylaea at 10:30 a.m.

In Thessaloniki, the rally will take place at the Labor Center at 10:30 a.m.
