An alarm was raised on Wednesday morning at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine following “specific information about a potential major airstrike.”
In response to this intelligence, embassy officials decided on its temporary closure.
“As a precautionary measure, the embassy will remain closed, and employees will stay at home. The U.S. Embassy urges Americans to be prepared to immediately seek shelter in the event of an air raid alert,” stated the announcement from the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv.
A short while earlier, Reuters reported that Kyiv had come under Russian aerial bombardment, with Ukrainian air defense systems attempting to counter the attacks.
Eyewitnesses told Reuters they heard multiple explosions, resembling the operation of air defense systems.
