Greeks in Aleppo confirmed safe amid tensions – Foreign Ministry prepared for any scenario

The embassy in Damascus has received 40 requests to include persons in a convoy to Damascus when it takes place

About 50 Greek families are living in Aleppo, which has been occupied by jihadist groups in recent days, with all of them safe, diplomatic sources stress developments in Syria and the Greek diaspora in the northern Syrian city.

As the sources point out, the historic Greek diaspora in Aleppo numbers about 50 families.

They stress that all Greeks in Aleppo are safe.

The Greek embassy in Damascus and the Greek consul in Aleppo are in constant contact with the Greeks living in the city. Greeks in the city have been advised to avoid moving.

The Greek embassy has received 40 requests from Greeks and their associated members to be included in a relocation operation to be undertaken by the United Nations. The UN convoy will have a final destination of Damascus.
