Singer Giorgos Daskalakis has passed away, following a three-year battle with cancer. Just recently, he released a new song titled Se Pliroforo under the Panic label.

The unfortunate news was shared through a Facebook post by composer Nikos Terzis, who wrote: “Oh Giorgis… Unbelievable. Just when you found joy. Life is so unfair.”

A few days ago, Giorgos Daskalakis had expressed his happiness on social media about the release of his new song with Panic. He wrote at the time:

“Good afternoon, my beautiful loves!!! After 7 years away from the music industry, through easy and hard times, and 3 years of battling the beast, I present to you my new song… The one we’ve all been waiting for!! Creativity is strength, and strength is life… Thank you, Nikos Terzis and Natali, for standing by my side since the beginning of this journey, and thanks to everyone involved in the song. I hope you love it as much as I do!! Listen to it and let me see it pinned on your walls!!! I wish health to everyone, and may the Virgin Mary be with us!!! Amen.”

The Final Song by Giorgos Daskalakis

Despite his severe health condition, Giorgos Daskalakis reportedly continued his treatments with perseverance and hope. His return to music meant a great deal to him.

The singer frequently shared his journey with his online friends and remained optimistic. In a past interview, he had said:

“This is a tough thing. But you know what? Maybe I’m lucky. There are moments when you feel like you’ll bend, but you say, ‘Yeah, I’ll beat you, and next year I’ll sing again.’ And then there are moments when you think, ‘Why me? Why everything on me?’”

He also described how his health ordeal began:

“We were late in figuring out what I had. I talked to my best man and told him I wasn’t feeling well. I felt weak and had something like a pimple under my arm. We often ignore things, even when they hurt, especially when touched. I was still singing, but on my birthday, I had phlegm, had lost weight, and lost my appetite. I sang and collapsed. I kept saying I wasn’t well. People told me to go to the hospital, but I refused. At the end of July, I told my mother we should go to the hospital because I could barely breathe.

We did CT scans, and on the third one, completely by chance, they found cancer in my lymph nodes. That was the cause of all my other issues. They told me there was a chance to catch it in time. Only God knows if I deserve to live.”
