A ceremony to commemorate the victims of the floods that devastated southeastern Spain in late October will be held in Valencia on Monday, December 9, in the presence of King Felipe and Queen Letitia, Agence France-Presse reported today, citing converging sources.

This ceremony “for the people who died and the victims” of the floods will take place at 7 p.m. in Valencia’s cathedral, the archdiocese of the Valencia region confirmed in a press release.

Asked by AFP, the palace clarified that King Felipe and Queen Letitia will attend this “commemorative ceremony”.

It will be their third joint visit to the region of Valencia, the most flood-affected after the torrential rains of October 29.

On November 3, the royal couple traveled to Paiporta, a community considered the epicenter of the tragedy, along with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and the president of the Valencia region, Carlos Mathon.

They were then greeted by residents with boos and mud-throwing, with Sanchez and Máthón forced to leave and the king and queen ending their visit early.

During their second visit, on November 19, Felipe and Letitia were instead greeted with applause.
