The Metro Workers’ Union has declared a strike for Friday, December 13.
The strike will be in effect from 9:00 PM until the end of the shift.
In their announcement, the Union demands the resolution of the issue concerning the hazardous work allowance, which they request to be implemented through a Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD) with retroactive effect.
A second issue for the Union is private health insurance and medical check-ups for 2,500 employees. According to the workers, funds have been allocated for this purpose but remain unspent, with the approvals being deferred “month by month” and treated as mere “promises.”
