Michael Rousseau, President and CEO of Air Canada, has been elected as the new Chair of the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board, succeeding Scott Kirby, CEO of United Airlines, who held the position since December 2020.
Upon taking on his new role, Rousseau stated:
“I look forward to collaborating with the Executive Board over the next two years to continue enhancing our services and providing our passengers with a seamless travel experience. At Star Alliance, we remain committed to our vision of expanding our network to connect every corner of the globe. I encourage all member airlines to contribute to this effort in 2025 and beyond.”
In his new capacity, Michael Rousseau will represent the Chief Executive Board of the world’s largest airline alliance, preside over its two annual meetings, and lead the strategic direction of Star Alliance, which comprises 25 member airlines globally.
Theo Panagiotoulias, CEO of Star Alliance, congratulated Rousseau, saying:
“I am delighted to welcome Michael Rousseau as the new Chair, one of the most experienced CEOs on the Board, and I look forward to working closely with him to bring our renewed vision for Star Alliance to fruition. Each of the 25 member airlines is represented by its CEO on the Chief Executive Board, which serves as Star Alliance’s highest governing body and sets the general strategic direction.
