The baby snatching exercise at Lefkada Hospital that went viral on social media (videos-photos)

The two scenarios in which the staff was trained and the hundreds of thousands of views

Newsroom December 11 01:38

A man running holding a baby doll in his arms, nurses shouting “the baby, the baby” and widespread panic make up the backdrop of a video that has been making waves on social media in recent hours.

It’s a baby snatching preparedness exercise at Lefkada Hospital, but the video uploaded to TikTok has garnered around half a million views, more than 15,000 likes and thousands of comments. However, after a few hours it was taken down.

The video comes from a iLefkada.gr journalist who was at the small-scale exercises that took place yesterday at the Lefkada hospital in cooperation with the 6th YPE (Health Region) and the EKEPY (National Health Operations Center).

Exercise No.1: The baby snatching scenario from Lefkada Hospital

This exercise was carried out in collaboration and with the Lefkada police from the hospital and the scenario reported: “In the morning shift of the Obstetrics Clinic it was found that the newborn baby in the ward…is missing.

The mother was in the bathroom and on coming to the ward informed the midwife – who was in a different ward providing care for another woman – that the newborn was not in his cot. The panicked mother informed that the child had been taken by her husband with whom she was having differences and was afraid to leave the country.

The supervisor is informed, who activates the “Pink Code” and calls via pager: the Head of Security, the Director of Nursing, the Administrator and a Social Worker

At the hearing of the “Code Pink” the team will immediately attend the scene of the incident the above team and the police will be notified. Eventually the police were able to locate the father with the baby to handcuff him and return the baby to the mother.”

According to iLefkada the above exercise scenario has actually happened that is why it has been included in the exercises.

Exercise No.2: Fire in the outpatient clinic of Lefkada Hospital

In the other scenario, the fire has broken out in the emergency room in the orthopedic department. The fire could not be controlled by the hospital employees who were making efforts and so the fire brigade was alerted and arrived about 4 minutes after the call to the center.
