The young man, who is the first to be arrested for an offense involving the Thessaloniki Metro, was found guilty of property damage to a facility used for public benefit. The court recognized his youth as a mitigating factor due to his post-adolescent age.

In his testimony, the 19-year-old explained that he painted at the Venizelos station to express his love for his girlfriend, stating that he wrote the word “H.A.T.E.” – an acronym for Heart A. (his name) To E. (his girlfriend’s name) – at four different spots.

“I did it for my girlfriend, to show her my love. I wanted her to see it and be impressed,” he said, emphasizing that he regretted his actions and that he does not usually engage in graffiti.
