Kimberly Guilfoyle: Trump’s decision to send me to Greece shows how much he loves its people

"He knows the work that I'm going to do and that I will deliver for him, for the American people and for the people of Greece," she said - How she reacted when he suggested it

Newsroom December 13 08:37

With repeated expressions of enthusiasm for her impending appointment as Ambassador to Athens, as well as flattering comments about the Greek people, Kimberly Guilfoyle spoke on her online show on the Rumble platform, The Kimberly Guilfoyle Show, where she hosted Greek-American businessman John Catsimatidis and lobbyist Roger Stone.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to convey this message as the next United States Ambassador to Greece. I look forward to gaining the support of the United States Senate and working with our key Greek allies to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote energy, security, peace, and prosperity,” Ms. Guilfoyle stated before welcoming Mr. Catsimatidis as her first guest.

“I want us to talk about your background and the fact that, according to reports, you even received an offer. Okay, we were all talking about this—it’ll be interesting. Come with me to Greece, Johnny. Run for president of Greece,” she said, laughing, to John Catsimatidis, referencing the suggestion he received to be nominated as President of the Republic.

“Let’s talk about the ties between the United States and Greece. I’m truly inspired and impressed by the resilience of the Greek people, their economic journey, and their incredible history, which is so rich—the birthplace of democracy. Greece is the birthplace of democracy!” Kimberly Guilfoyle added, with John Catsimatidis discussing the Greek quality of life.

“I spent some time there this summer, and the people are wonderful. The food is fantastic. It’s just so, so relaxing. Do you know why? I think Greeks live longer, about 10 years more than others. You breathe that clean air and live 10 years longer. I love that, and the food is simply excellent,” said Mr. Catsimatidis, with Guilfoyle sharing her own love for Greek cuisine in a similarly lighthearted tone.

“Every year, on my birthday, I always want to eat Greek food. I love lamb, Greek honey, yogurt, and all those things together. In San Francisco, I always used to go to this restaurant. I don’t know if you’ve been, but it’s a fantastic Greek restaurant called Kokari. And every time people asked me, ‘Do you want to go to the same place?’ I’d say, ‘Yes, I want to go to the same place. It’s my favorite,’” she noted.

The discussion then shifted to energy, with strong endorsements of Donald Trump, as Mr. Catsimatidis reaffirmed his support for Trump’s policies on the economy, energy, and immigration.

“Trump Loves the Greeks”

Following John Catsimatidis, Kimberly Guilfoyle’s next guest was Roger Stone, who also congratulated her, repeatedly expressing his belief that the newly elected U.S. President, Donald Trump, made the right choice in appointing her.

“Warmest congratulations. This is one of the best appointments by the president. Congratulations to you, congratulations to him, and congratulations to the country,” Stone said.

For her part, Guilfoyle discussed the upcoming transition process and her coordination with outgoing Ambassador George Tsunis. She expressed confidence that her appointment demonstrated Trump’s fondness for the Greek people.

“Honestly, it shows how much he loves the people of Greece and how seriously he takes this, because he knows the work I’m going to do and that I’ll deliver for him, for the American people, and for the people of Greece, for sure. I’ve already been in touch with the current ambassador, and we’re collaborating to ensure a smooth transition. It’s wonderful that a full briefing report is being prepared on all the key issues that need to be addressed. I’m really excited about that. You know, I’m a bit of a nerd, and I can’t wait to dive into studying all these matters!”

At another point in her conversation with Roger Stone, Guilfoyle revealed details of her dialogue with Donald Trump before his decision to nominate her as U.S. Ambassador to Athens was announced.

“I feel so honored to be able to take on this role, to do something I truly believe in and consider important on the international stage. And honestly, my goodness, what an honor of a lifetime to serve as the United States Ambassador under the greatest president this country has ever had, President Donald Trump. I told the president the other day—and we’ve known each other for two decades—it’s just… incredible. And he said to me: ‘This is about you and me, and what we’re doing, and what we’re going to achieve for Greece.’ And I absolutely love that. Honestly, I didn’t ask for anything. I just said, ‘I want to go to Greece. I love it.’ Because I find it so interesting and exciting. I’ve spent time in many other countries. As you know, I studied law in Ireland for a while. There, I studied European Economic Community law at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. I’m a big history enthusiast, and I’m thrilled because Greece plays an important role in the EU and NATO as well. I deeply appreciate that, and the president was so kind when he called me and offered me this role,” Guilfoyle said, adding that she aims to work on strengthening U.S.-Greece bilateral relations. She also mentioned Tom Barrack, who is proposed for the U.S. Embassy in Ankara.
