A group of fourth-year students of the National MetSoviet University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) named “Greeks for Geeks” has won first prize at the Hack3D global competition in New York.
The team, which consists of Georgios Karapidakis, Christos Madamopoulos, Nikolaos Moraitis, and Stasinos Daveas managed to outperform Columbia University, which received the second prize,e and the Indian National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, which won the third place.
The Hack3D competition has broad themes related to security problems in the design and additive manufacturing of 3D objects.
In particular, it addresses safety issues at all levels of the production process in the global industry. Any problems can seriously affect the integrity and quality of products of great importance in industries such as aerospace. Note that defects in components absorbed by industry may not be detected through quality control or traditional cybersecurity methods. For this reason, innovative methods or solutions proposed by participants in the competition are highlighted as being of utmost importance. At the same time, young scientists are allowed to network internationally, exchange ideas, and fuel the development of innovative technologies.
The School of EMS and the University Research Institute of Systems and Computing (UNISC) announced the students’ outstanding achievements, congratulated them,m and wished them success and even greater achievements in the future.
