Health Minister Adonis Georgiades thanked his colleagues for achieving the goals he had set for the past year, in a post on Twitter.

As he stresses, “while the absorption target set by the Ministry of Finance for our Ministry for 2024 was 234,000,000 €, we finally achieved an absorption of 400,077,000 €, i.e. we exceeded the target by +171%…”

For this success, Mr Georgiades thanked Deputy Minister of Health Irini Agapidaki, Deputy Ministers of Health Marios Themistekleous and Dimitris Vartzopoulos, the DG, the officials and his close colleagues.

In detail the post of the Minister of Health

“Yesterday we gathered, the entire team of the Ministry of Health to celebrate the achievement of a very important goal for our Ministry and the country as a whole.

While the absorption target set by the Ministry of Finance for our Ministry for 2024 was 234.000.000€, we finally achieved an absorption of 400.077.000€, that is, we exceeded the target by +171%….
When I took over the Ministry of Health a year ago, we had to accelerate the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Fund projects, to run so that we do not lose funding and, above all, to be able to complete, among other things, the largest building upgrade programme of 93 hospitals and 158 health centres, projects that in 2025 will change the image of our fellow citizens about the NHS.
This success was neither assured nor self-evident and required hard daily work from all of us.

We used every available European resource for the benefit of the Greek people:

– For the performance of tens of thousands of Free Afternoon Surgeries to our fellow citizens in need
– For the modernization and upgrading of the infrastructure of Hospitals and Health Centres
– For the supply of modern medical equipment for the National Health System
– For the implementation of National Pre-symptomatic Control Programmes and the strengthening of the national public health network
– For quality home care
– For the Reform of Mental Health
– For the Strengthening of Research and Development in the Pharmaceutical Industry
– For the Digital Transformation of Health
We are steadily continuing our work to improve the National Health System of our country.

For this success, in addition to my obvious gratitude to the Deputy Minister of Health Mrs. Irini Agapidaki, the Deputy Ministers of Health Mr. Marios Themistekleous, Dimitris Vartzopoulos, the DG, the officials, etc., I owe a special mention to two special people:
To my close associate, to whom I have entrusted the general monitoring of the Recovery Fund from my office to
Stamatis Poulis, who left nothing at all to his own devices, and to Mr. Panagiotis Stamboulidis on behalf of the special project unit of the Hellenic Investment Fund with whom we have had and continue to have the closest cooperation.
I would also like to thank my colleague and brotherly friend Deputy Minister of Finance Nikos Papathanasis and his colleague Mr. Orestis Kavalakis, who have the general responsibility of the Recovery Fund.
