Greece’s participation in the UN Security Council as a Non-Permanent Member gives Greece the opportunity to showcase its diplomatic capital by actively participating in shaping decisions on global issues such as peace, development, security in volatile regions and human rights.

In an environment of multiple global challenges, conflicts and international volatility, the top priorities for Greece’s participation in the Security Council include peaceful dispute resolution, respect for international law, climate change and security, women, peace and security, the protection of children in armed conflict and maritime security.

Athens’ commitment to these priorities is demonstrated by Greece’s solidarity in the struggle of Ukraine to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as by our country’s active policy in the Middle East in order to contain the humanitarian crisis. Greece will reinforce these priorities through a series of actions and initiatives, which will include the major and critical countries of the world.
