Sam Altman: OpenAI CEO’s sister sues him for sexual abuse when they were children

The head of the successful company that launched ChatGPT in 2022 claims that his sister has psychological problems

Newsroom January 8 09:50

A lawsuit has been filed against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman by his sister, Anne, alleging that he sexually abused her between 1997 and 2006.

In her lawsuit, filed Jan. 6 in U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Missouri, Anne Altman alleges that the abuse began when she was three years old and her brother was 12.

In a joint statement posted with his mother and two siblings on the X platform, Altman, 39, denied the allegations, calling them completely untrue. The family claims that Anne has psychological problems and that she lashes out at people in her family despite their efforts to help her.

“Caring for a family member who is experiencing mental health challenges is incredibly difficult. This situation causes immense pain for all of us,” the statement said.

According to international media, Anne Altman’s lawsuit alleges that the abuse was systematic (she cites assaults that occurred several times a week), lasted several years and included rape.

The last incident of abuse, always according to her claims, occurred when Sam Altman was an adult while she was still a minor.
