Heavy rainfall in Chania causes broken branches on the streets and detached metal sheet in its city center

Problems were created and the intervention of the Fire Brigade was needed

The weather in Chania suddenly worsened, as predicted by the National Weather Service, with heavy rainfall and strong winds causing disruptions both inside and outside the city.

According to an update from APE-MPA, the fire brigade intervened to cut down trees and to cut and remove a tree on the BOAK at the height of Megalona Chorafia.

Sheet metal was detached in the city centre and men had to intervene to remove it, while the service was also on calls for problems in elevators, mainly due to a power outage.

A number of roads in the greater Souda area, Lentarian area, and Stavros, experienced some problems from the heavy rain.

According to flashnews.gr,in the early afternoon on Souda Avenue, a eucalyptus branch was detached, and a few hours later a similar incident occurred in the city center. Citizens should be careful in their travels both as pedestrians and drivers.
