After many months of negotiations, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas appears to be within reach, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, commenting on information reaching him from Doha.

“We understand how painful for Israel any deal with the terrorist organization Hamas is. Nevertheless, the lives of the hostages must now have the highest priority,” Solts said, adding that the opportunity for a ceasefire to alleviate the suffering in Gaza is being offered.
