The Minister of Justice Giorgos Florides met today with the Greek delegation of the European Women’s Lobby, on the occasion of the bill to tackle violence against women and domestic violence.
The meeting of Mr. Floridis met with the Greek delegation of the European Women’s Lobby, with the participation of the head of the delegation Mika Ioannidou and the representatives of the Lyceum of Greek Women Aglaia Robokou, HEN Greece Olga Gini, the Soroptimist Association of Greece Mimika Kouri, the organization DYNAME Katerina Giouli and the delegation’s associate Marilena Tsikini.
During the meeting, the bill on the fight against violence against women and domestic violence by incorporating, among other things, Directive (EU) 2024/1385, which seeks to address these incidents in a multi-level approach and contribute substantially to their elimination, was discussed. This bill will be debated in Parliament in the next few days.
According to a statement, “the relevant initiative of the Ministry of Justice was praised, while the Greek delegation submitted proposals for further improvement of the existing legislative framework.”
This first meeting, according to the Justice Ministry’s statement, “laid the foundations for a constructive, mutually beneficial cooperation between the leadership of the Justice Ministry and the Greek delegation of the European Women’s Lobby.”
