The President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, pledged yesterday, Sunday, to put an end to what he calls the “invasion” of illegal immigration, a promise he repeatedly made during his campaign, during a rally with his supporters in Washington on the eve of his inauguration. The inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump is scheduled for Monday (January 20) at 11:30 a.m. local time (6:30 p.m. Athens time).
“We will stop the invasion,” Mr. Trump told thousands of supporters gathered in an indoor arena and concert venue in the U.S. federal capital, promising that he would “end the war in Ukraine and the chaos in the Middle East.”
“I am thrilled to be back,” were the first words of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in his inaugural speech a day before his swearing-in, during which he promised to put an end to “four years of American decline.”
“And we will make America great again,” he said before boasting about his election victory, which he described as the greatest political movement ever, while highlighting their achievements in various states and among diverse demographic groups.
Continuing, Trump stated that he would restore law and order in America’s cities, reinstate patriotism in schools, and remove radical leftist policies from the government.
“We will make America great again,” he said, promising the crowd that he would “fight” for them over the next four years.
He then claimed that the country was already seeing results “no one expected.”
“Starting today, TikTok is back,” he declared, referring to the restoration of the platform’s services for U.S. users.
Donald Trump is expected to sign dozens of executive orders tomorrow, some even before he reaches the White House.
“You will see something tomorrow. You will see executive orders that will make you very happy,” he noted.
“We have to put our country on the right path by sunset tomorrow night. The invasion at our borders will be stopped. And all illegal border trespassers will have, in one form or another, been sent on their way back.”
Trump spoke more about what he intended to do on his first day in office.
“Every radical and foolish executive order from the Biden administration will be undone within hours of my swearing-in,” he said.
“You’ll have a lot of fun watching TV tomorrow,” he added.
Here are some of the actions he described that he would take with executive orders:
- Start the largest deportation program in U.S. history
- Cut environmental regulations
- Strengthen artificial intelligence (AI)
- Create the Doge (Department of Government Efficiency)
- Make records related to the murders of former presidents available
- Direct the military to create the large anti-missile shield “Iron Dome.”
- End diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies from the military.
He also promised that he would end the war in Ukraine and the chaos in the Middle East.
Trump called Elon Musk to the stage, with the head of the new Department of Government Efficiency taking the podium with his son.
“This victory is really just the beginning. What matters is making significant changes (…) and laying the foundation for a strong America for a century, for centuries, forever,” Musk said on stage.
The speech took place at the Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, which has a capacity of about 20,000 people.
It began with a performance by Kid Rock and included speeches from TV personality Megyn Kelly, actor Jon Voight, and senior advisor Stephen Miller.
Grammy-winning country singer Lee Greenwood also performed “God Bless the USA,” which has become an anthem for Trump’s campaign.
