The news was made public by former LAOS MP, Kostis Aivaliotis, in a post on X in which he wrote: “My dear friend and best man Vaitsis Apostolatos passed away yesterday. He left an imprint of morality and kindness as a Member of Parliament and as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. The pain of those of us who loved him and were closely associated with him is indescribable.”
The Speaker of the Greek Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, expressed his sadness at the loss of the former MP – doctor:
“It is with feelings of particular sadness that I was informed of the loss of my dear former colleague, distinguished doctor and MP Vaitsis Apostolatos, who distinguished himself as a gynaecologist and as a politician.
He was born in Piraeus and alongside his scientific activity he began his involvement with public affairs as a New Democracy (ND) politician in the early 1990s. He was one of the key executives of the Popular’s Orthodox Rally (LAOS) party. He served twice as a member of Parliament (2007-2009, 2009-2012) and as Vice Speaker of the Greek Parliament (2008-2009, 2009-2012), serving his parliamentary duties with great dedication.
To his family and loved ones I express my sincere condolences.”
