Bitterly cold until mid-week – Where it will rain and where it will snow

Low temperatures will continue in the coming days, according to the director of the National Weather Service, Thodoros Kolydas. The weather forecast for the next five days.

According to Kolydas, unseasonably low temperatures will continue through mid-February. “Through the middle of the month, unseasonably low temperatures will persist. Localized phenomena will occur, not significantly, until the middle of next week. Later, especially towards the end of the second half of the week, the weather will become much milder in terms of temperatures and there is a tendency for more phenomena to develop from systems coming from the west,” he wrote on Twitter.

On Saturday, clouds are forecast in the eastern mainland, the northeastern Aegean islands, the Sporades, Evia, the Cyclades, Crete, partly cloudy with a few local showers. Light snowfall will occur in places in the mainland mountains as well as in the mountains of Evia and Crete. In the rest of the country a few clouds, locally increased.

Winds will blow in the west east 4 to 5, in the east north northeast 5 to 7 and in the Aegean Sea in the morning hours locally up to 8 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly and will remain lower than normal for the season. In the central and northern regions it will reach 8 to 9 and locally 10 degrees Celsius, in the rest of the regions 11 to 13 and in some places in the Dodecanese and southern Crete 14 to 15 degrees Celsius. Frost will occur in places on the mainland in the morning and evening hours.

The weather on Monday, February 10

Light snowfall will occur in places in the mainland mountains as well as in the mountains of Evia and Crete.

Winds will blow in the west east southeast 3 to 4 and in the east north northeast 4 to 6 Beaufort. The temperature will not change significantly.

Frost will occur in places on the mainland in the morning and evening hours.

The weather on Wednesday, February 12

Initially in the southern Ionian Sea and gradually in the western mainland clouds with local rain and occasional thunderstorms are forecast. In the rest of the country clouds in places with local showers mainly in the central and northern parts.

Occasional snowfall will occur in the mountains of the mainland and Crete.
Winds will blow in the west southeast at 4 to 6 and in the Ionian Sea gradually 7 Beaufort and in the east from the north 4 to 6 and in the southeastern Aegean Sea occasionally up to 7 Beaufort.

In Thrace and the eastern Aegean islands a few clouds that will gradually increase. In the rest of the country clouds with local rain and mainly in the west sporadic thunderstorms are forecast. Snowfall will occur in the mountains and semi-mountains of the northern mainland.

Winds will blow in the west from southerly directions 4 to 6 and in the Ionian Sea up to 7 Beaufort and in the east from northerly directions 3 to 5 Beaufort. The temperature will not change significantly. Frost will occur in places on the mainland in the morning and evening hours.
