Dendias from the US: Turkey is a source of instability while Greece is committed to democratic values

The Secretary of Defense gave the two different examples so that the U.S. can choose who best serves its interests

Newsroom February 12 01:40

The two different examples of Turkey and Greece were presented by Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, in his speech at the 6th Delphi Forum Washington DC, so that the US can choose who best serves its interests.

As the Minister of National Defense states: “On the one hand, we have an authoritarian country that does not feel the need to comply with international law and international law of the sea” and “on the other hand, we have a country that is a champion of international law and international law of the sea and the rules based on the international order.”

In detail what he said:

“I will propose two different examples as they exist in our neighborhood, the Eastern Mediterranean. And then the US can decide which of these two paradigms best serves its interests.

On the one hand, we have an authoritarian country that does not feel the need to comply with international law and international law of the sea. A country that is a member of NATO, yet does not impose sanctions on Russia, maintaining close relations with it. And this is not an isolated policy. It is an ongoing policy.

And of course, as we all know, it disputes internationally recognized borders, ignores international treaties, actively engages in local conflicts, is itself a source of instability, turns more towards Islam day by day, opens thousands of Islamic schools, hosts the Hamas Brotherhood, is a declared enemy of Israel.

And on the other hand we have a country that is a champion of International Law and the International Law of the Sea and the rules based on the International Order. A modern democracy, with all its faults, which nevertheless has fundamental rights, freedom of speech, women’s rights, freedom of political expression and which is committed to democratic values. A member of the European Union.

A country which fought in both World Wars side by side with the forces of democracy and which lost about 10% of its population in World War II.

These two examples are therefore presented before the United States so that it can choose.“
