Raymetrics: signed a strategic partnership with Key Technologies in the UAE and expands internationally

The Greek company develops the "ASTERIA" system for UAVs detection, strengthening its international presence while participating in NATO's DIANA programme, focusing on innovation and defence technology

Newsroom February 18 03:50

An agreement with Key Technologies under the auspices of the Tawazun Council of the UAE government was signed today in Abu Dhabi by Raymetrics President and CEO Nikos Kontos. It is the first agreement signed in the context of the leading international defense exhibition IDEX 2025 and places Raymetrics at the core of the region’s strategic defense and technology development.

Raymetrics’ President and CEO, Mr. Nikos Kontos said, “with our new strategic partnership with Key Technologies we are continuously expanding our international network, aiming to develop an innovative security system for the needs of the UAE through the support of the Tawazun Council Committee and the UAE Ministry of Defence.” The new product, dubbed “ASTERIA”, will include cutting-edge border surveillance technology to detect unauthorised aerial vehicles and prevent mass drone attacks.

The agreement signed by Raymetrics President and CEO Nikos Kontos and Dr. Mohamed Rashed Al Hameli Vice President of Key Technologies is of strategic importance as it is not only limited to the UAE and Europe but extends globally, helping to secure borders and combat illegal activities.

Raymetrics S.A. is a Greek company with 82.36% of its turnover coming from exports and is a global leader in the development and manufacture of LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) remote sensing systems, with partnerships in more than 40 countries and strategic collaborations with international organizations, including the European Space Agency (ESA) and the US Department of Defense. Recently, Raymetrics was selected as the only Greek company out of 2,600 companies from all NATO member states to participate in the DIANA program for 2025.

DIANA is the “Accelerator” of the NATO North Atlantic Defence Innovation Accelerator and aims to promote innovative defence solutions. As part of this participation, Raymetrics has developed the Coherent Doppler LIDAR System for UAV Detection, an advanced technology that enables the detection and tracking of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), thus strengthening its position in the defense and technology sector.
