Israeli and Hamas officials say an agreement has been reached on the release of six hostages from the organization on Saturday, at the end of the first phase of the deal. In addition, four bodies will be transferred to Israel on Thursday.
Hamas leader in Gaza Halil al-Haya said the six hostages will include two Israelis, Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, who have been held for more than a decade, according to the Times of Israel.
This is the first agreement between Hamas and Israel that both sides are making as a goodwill gesture as Tel Aviv is expected to release more Palestinian prisoners from jails and significantly increase humanitarian aid inside Gaza.
