The Bulgarian telecommunications company Vivacom, a member of United Group, the leading telecommunications and media provider in Southeastern Europe and the parent company of Nova in Greece, has achieved a significant global milestone, as it is now ranked among the top five global providers based on the growth of satellite service revenues, according to the “Top Teleport Operators 2024” report published by the World Teleport Association (WTA). This year, for the first time, Vivacom is included in the independent group of the world’s top 10 companies (Independent Top 10), based on total revenue from all sources.
Victoriya Boklag, CEO of United Group, stated: “This recognition of Vivacom by the World Teleport Association for the fifth consecutive year confirms our position among the top satellite service providers globally. Moreover, it rewards our strategy—guided by innovation and investments in cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure—that drives sustainable growth and provides value to our customers across several continents.”
United Group remains the only company in the broader region included in the prestigious international ranking of the World Teleport Association. At the same time, the Group is continuously strengthening its partnerships with some of the largest global satellite service and content providers, including Disney, Eutelsat, Viacom, National Geographic Channel, Viasat, Endurosat, Leaf Space, and many others.
Vivacom operates two state-of-the-art ground stations in Bulgaria to provide satellite services to business clients: the Plana Earth Station, near the village of Plana, and the Mogila Ground Station, near Stara Zagora, which supports low Earth orbit satellite communication services from Eutelsat. Additionally, two more ground stations are under construction as part of a large-scale international project. It is worth noting that the Plana Teleport satellite station holds the highest level of certification in the satellite services sector – Tier 4 – confirming that it is one of the most advanced facilities in the world for providing ground satellite services.
Vivacom broadcasts over 600 television channels, providing services throughout Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia, including some of the most remote locations, such as Antarctica. These achievements further strengthen its global position in the satellite services sector.
