An incident involving gunfire during the night at a rave party at the racetrack in the city of Aarau in northern Switzerland, near Zurich, was reported by local police, who spoke of “multiple victims.”
“Aarau: Gunfire during the night at an event in Schachen. Multiple victims. Major police operation. Avoid the area,” the police said in a post on X.
According to Swiss media reports, the ongoing police operation could mean that the perpetrators are still being sought.
According to the newspaper Blick, the shots were fired at around 3:00 a.m. local time during the “Aarauer Rave,” an annual techno party attended by 3,500 people at the Aarau racetrack. The event runs from the early afternoon until 2:00 a.m.
A police spokesperson stated that “at present, the police are in a position to confirm heavy gunfire within a large group of people.” According to Blick, an eyewitness described “bursts of gunfire.”
