Chrysochoidis: Clear order to the police to safeguard the safety of protesters and demonstrations

The Minister of Citizen Protection said that the Police had made efforts to ensure that Friday's demonstrations took place in a peaceful and safe manner

Newsroom February 26 08:15

The safety of protesters and demonstrations is the concern of the police ahead of Friday’s rallies to mark two years since the train crash at Tempi, Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis told “Parapolitika 90.1” radio.

“The Police have a clear, clear mandate: to safeguard the safety of the demonstrators and the safe conduct of the demonstrations,” Chrysochoidis said.

He said that the Police have made a great deal of preparation to achieve their main goal, which is “to make and complete all these demonstrations in a peaceful and, above all, safe manner for the citizens who will participate, because that is the point, the safety of citizens, the safety of cities and, ultimately, the completion of all these demonstrations in a way that will primarily satisfy those who carry them out,” he added.
