Light showers are expected today, which will intensify in the evening hours in the west and gradually in the eastern Aegean Sea, with sporadic showers mainly in the Ionian Sea, while the temperature will reach 17 degrees Celsius. The rise in temperature and the rains will continue in the coming days, while it seems that weather of Clean Monday is “locked”.

According to meteorologists, kite flying will be accompanied by unsettled weather, with temperatures dropping and rain in places. In fact, snow is expected, especially in the mountains of northern Greece.

Negative minimum temperatures were recorded in the morning hours of Tuesday 25/02 in several areas mainly in the northern continental parts, with the lowest minimum temperature recorded in the New Caucasus of Florina, at -2.4 °C.

According to the network of automatic weather stations of the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr the eight lowest minimum temperatures of the day are presented in the table below.

The weather today

Across the country, intermittent clouds with localized showers are expected. From midday, the phenomena in the west and the Aegean will intensify, while in the evening hours in the west there will be sporadic thunderstorms. A little snow will fall at higher altitudes in the mountainous areas of the mainland. At night and early in the morning visibility will be limited in places.

The temperature will range in Western Macedonia from -2 to 12 degrees, in the rest of northern Greece from -2 to 13-14 degrees, in Epirus from 6 to 17 degrees, in Thessaly from 4 to 15-16 degrees, in the rest of the mainland from 4 to 16-18 degrees, in the Ionian Islands from 7 to 17 degrees, in the Aegean islands from 7 to 14-15 degrees and in Crete from 6 to 16-18 degrees.

In the Aegean Sea the winds will blow from the south with 4-5 Beaufort winds, while in the Ionian Sea southwest winds will prevail with the same intensity.

In Attica we expect occasionally increased clouds with sporadic rain mainly during the midday hours. Winds will blow from southern directions with intensities of 3-4 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 9 to 15 degrees Celsius.

In Thessaloniki we expect clouds with a chance of some rain at times. The winds will blow from mainly eastern directions with intensities of 2-3 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 7 to 13 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Thursday 27-02-2025

Across the country, clouds are forecasted with local rain initially in the west, the eastern and southern islands and gradually in the rest of the country. Sporadic thunderstorms will occur initially in the western seaside coastal areas, from the afternoon hours in the Cyclades and gradually in the eastern Aegean. The phenomena in the west are likely to be strong in places.

Winds will blow south-southwest 3 to 4 and in the sea locally 5 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly.

The weather on Friday 28-02-2025

In the north and the Aegean clouds with showers and mainly in the eastern Aegean sporadic thunderstorms. Until noon in the eastern Aegean Sea the phenomena are likely to be strong, gradually weakening. In the rest of the country a few clouds, partly cloudy with local rain. Visibility in the morning and evening hours on the mainland will be locally limited.

Winds will blow in the west from the north at 3 to 4 Beaufort and in the Ionian Sea locally 5 Beaufort. In the east it will initially blow from southerly directions 4 to 5 Beaufort, quickly in the north and gradually in the remaining areas will turn to northerly 4 to 5 Beaufort and locally in the north 6 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly.

The weather on Saturday 01-03-2025

A few clouds, partly cloudy with light local showers. Visibility in the morning and evening hours on the mainland will be locally limited.

Winds will blow from the north 3 to 4 and locally in the Aegean Sea 5 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop slightly in the northeast.

The weather on Sunday 02-03-2025

In the Aegean a few clouds that will gradually increase. In the rest of the country cloudy with local rain. Visibility in the morning and evening hours on the mainland will be locally limited. A little snow will fall in the northern mountains.

Winds will blow in the west southeast 3 to 4 and locally in the Ionian Sea 5 Beaufort. In the east will blow initially from the north 3 to 4 and locally in the Aegean Sea 5 Beaufort and gradually east southeast with the same intensity.

The temperature will not change significantly.
