The individuals, wearing hoods, began throwing Molotov cocktails, stones, and bottles at the officers. In response, police fired tear gas and chemical agents to disperse them.

The Protest in Thessaloniki

A large crowd gathered in downtown Thessaloniki today to demonstrate on the second anniversary of the Tempi tragedy. In a symbolic act of mourning, protesters released dozens of black balloons into the sky in remembrance of the victims.

The protest was scheduled to begin at Venizelos Statue, with a march set to proceed toward Aristotelous Square.
