Vassilis Papageorgiou, Secretary General of Civil Protection, has resigned, citing reasons of political propriety in the Tempi case.

Papageorgiou has been prosecuted for tampering with the accident site. The timing of the resignation is not unrelated to the departure of Christos Triandopoulos from the government.
