Today, Sunday, March 9th, Athens will host the 13th Half Marathon of the city, with thousands of runners filling the city center. As part of the event, traffic will be disrupted on various streets of the capital for several hours.
Detailed Traffic Regulations:
A. From 07:00 to 14:00, the following roads will be affected:
- Vasilissis Amalias Avenue and its parallel streets, from Vasilissis Olgas Avenue to Syggrou.
- Eleftheriou Venizelou (Panepistimiou), and its parallel streets along its entire length.
- Stadiou Street, from Amerikis to Syntagma Square.
- Akademias Street, along its entire length and its parallel streets.
- Solonos Street, along its entire length and its parallel streets.
- Omonia Square and Syntagma Square.
- Filellinon Street, gradually from 06:00 to 14:00.
- Patision – 28th October, from Ag. Meletiou to Omonia Square.
- G’ Septemvriou, from Omonia Square to Marnis.
- Marnis Street, from Platia Vathis to Patision.
- Vasilissis Olgas Avenue and other main streets such as Syggrou, Kallirois, Ath. Diakou, Iroou Attikou, Rigillis, Piraeus (P. Tsaldari), and many others.
Important Notes:
- A ban on vehicles crossing the half marathon route, with exceptions for certain controlled intersections.
- The traffic regulations may be extended or shortened depending on the traffic conditions.
Drivers are advised to follow the instructions of the traffic officers and the road signs. Violating these measures will result in penalties according to the Road Traffic Code.
