Authorities have solved a fraud case targeting an elderly woman, which took place in late February in Drama. According to a statement from the Hellenic Police (ELAS), a case file has been drawn up against a Greek national, a member of a criminal group, which also includes another accomplice who has yet to be identified.
Specifically, on the afternoon of Monday, February 24, the elderly woman received a phone call from an unknown man pretending to be a doctor. Under the pretense that a close relative of hers had been injured in a traffic accident, he demanded money for an urgent surgical procedure. Convinced by the scammer, she handed over €13,000 to his Greek accomplice.
Following the victim’s report, a thorough and methodical investigation was conducted by the police, leading to the identification of the suspect. It was determined that on the evening of February 24, 2025, the identified suspect personally went to the victim’s home and collected the money.
The case file will be submitted to the Prosecutor of the Misdemeanor Court of Drama.
