“Never again memoranda” the message of Pierrakakis at the meeting with Stournaras

Fiscal responsibility, stability, reforms, the three pillars that Pierrakakis and Stournaras set for their cooperation

Newsroom March 18 02:45

A clear message that fiscal stability remains a non-negotiable priority for the government was sent by Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis during his meeting with the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Yannis Stournaras.

“There is full alignment with Mr. Stournaras. We believe that Greece’s fiscal stability is a major achievement for both the present and the future of the Greek people. We have learned the hard lesson of the financial crisis – ‘never again’ is the title of our policy,” Pierrakakis emphasized.

“On this stability, we build the reforms that society demands and that we prioritize both politically and ethically. In the coming period, within the framework of our institutional cooperation, we will strengthen our collaboration with the Bank of Greece,” the minister added.

From his side, Stournaras expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, emphasizing the importance of financial stability and structural reforms.

“I am pleased to be back at the Ministry of Finance. We had a highly productive discussion on our shared concerns and international developments. We are in full agreement: Fiscal responsibility, financial stability, and reforms are the three pillars we have committed to promoting. As part of our statutory role, we serve as advisors to the state, and it is my duty to support it. When there is such alignment, the sky is the limit,” he remarked.
