Nuri Aslan has been appointed as the interim mayor of Istanbul, replacing Ekrem İmamoğlu.
According to the NTV television network, the Istanbul Municipal Council, which is under opposition control, elected a temporary mayor today (March 26).
He is expected to serve for the remainder of Ekrem İmamoğlu’s term, as İmamoğlu awaits trial and remains imprisoned on corruption charges.
“We have sought to increase hope, strengthen justice, and establish popular power for a better future for Turkey! We are marching towards power, full speed ahead!” Nuri Aslan stated in his post.
