This coming Monday, April 7, the European Commission will officially announce the countermeasures it will apply to tariffs imposed on the European Union (EU) by US President Donald Trump.

According to sources Brussels, who chose anonymity to speak freely, the European Commission, which has sole responsibility for EU trade policy, is expected to announce not just retaliatory tariffs, but even more, it intends to select specific American products produced in companies based in so-called “red states”, that is the Republican majority states that elected Donald Trump.

According to the same sources, these “red” states, for example Kentucky, will be at the forefront of European retaliation, although it is not clear what results this political and unconventional decision will have. The list of products on which retaliatory tariffs will be imposed is already ready.
