The Municipality of Athens welcomes for the second year, today, Sunday, April 6, the international PPC Tour of Hellas 2025.
During the final stage of the race, 120 top cyclists from 32 countries will start from the historic Marathon and finish with an impressive circus in the city center. The spectacular finish will take place for the first time at Syntagma Square.
The Mayor of Athens, Harris Dukas, said: “We have succeeded in making Athens an international sports destination. To welcome and organize successful, major sporting events. Athletes and participants enjoy a special experience, as their route passes between historical landmarks. We hope that the weather will once again be an ally in their endeavour. The PPC Tour of Hellas is an excellent opportunity to promote cycling as an alternative means of micro-mobility in the city.”
The Deputy Minister of Sports, Mr. Yannis Vroutsis, underlined: “This year’s event, fully upgraded, is already attracting huge interest internationally, with 47 TV stations broadcasting the signal of the TV production, taking Greece to 180 countries! We seek through cycling, a medium so dear to us since our childhood, to promote sports culture among Greeks, to promote the values of fair play and to make Greece an international sports tourist destination. The PPC Tour of Hellas is a great sporting and cultural event that leaves a positive imprint on the entire Greek region”.
The big cycling celebration will start at 10 am, with educational and entertaining activities for children. Skills trails will welcome the young cyclists, as well as bikes specially designed for disabled people. A concert and prize draw will follow, from the moment the cyclists enter the centre of Athens (around 13:00) for an impressive 4-turn circus in the centre: Panepistimiou – Patission – Chalkokondyli – Akademias – Vassilissis Sofias – King Constantine – Ardittou – Athanasios Diakou – Sygrou – Vassilissis Amalias – National Garden – Syntagma Square.
