According to haniotika-nea.gr, the late Metropolitan, whose name is Emmanuel Papagiannakis, passed away today (8/4) in a hospital in Attica.
He graduated from the Theological School of Thessaloniki in 1989. He then pursued postgraduate studies at the same School in 1990 and 1991. In 1976, he became a monk. He was ordained deacon on 5 July 1981 and elder on 31 July 1982. He served as Chaplain and Preacher in the Metropolis of Kydonia. In 2001, he was appointed Protosynagogue of the Metropolis of Kydonia. On 7 November 2006, he was unanimously elected Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronas, and on 18 November 2006, he was ordained at the Holy Church of St. Minas in Heraklion.
