The New Democracy is ahead of the second Course of Freedom by an average of 11.1%, five polls show, Andreas Drimiotis said on Monday morning.
As the election analyst told SKAI, the five polls by extrapolation give ND 27.3% on average, with Course of Freedom in second place, “with wind in its sails”, 16.2% on average, and PASOK in third with 12.3% and “a big drop”. According to Mr. Drimiotis, “it is important that the Hellenic Solution is recorded at 10.4%,” while for Syriza he said it is at 6.6%.
Explaining this picture, Mr. Drimiotis said “we are in the middle of the election period, there is no prospect of elections, so people are expressing themselves in a loose way”, stressing that “we must look at the polls only qualitatively”.
Asked about the poll performance of Zoe Konstantopoulou’s party, he replied that it was due to the fact that “at this moment there is still no alternative for the people. In my opinion, people are voting for Zoe to send a message to PASOK and SYRIZA. I cannot imagine that people can vote for Konstantopoulou. In his eyes, who will be the government? I have imagined the government of Course of Freedom with Mrs Konstantopoulou as Prime Minister, the same Minister of Justice, the same Minister of Citizen Protection and so on. Who else have you seen from that party?”.
According to the election analyst’s assessment, “Course of Freedom is not going to reach 60-70 MPs, it will deflate. The people have a wisdom and are sending the message ‘give me an alternative’.” “If someone had told you three months ago that Kasselakis would be at 1.5% would you have believed it? When it’s a relaxed period the Greek tends to have fun,” he continued in this context.
And specifically about PASOK he commented that “I have been writing for many years that the leader of PASOK cannot take half of his party in the eligibility in the voting intention. This shows that he is not even convincing his own people. It seems that the mechanisms worked for the re-election of Androulakis because it is a repeated phenomenon that he gets half.”
“When people are in front of the ballot box they will think about who they want to govern me. We have Famelos, Androulakis, Konstantopoulou and Mitsotakis. Which of them will go and talk to Trump?” Drimiotis continued according to whom “regardless of what the polls say, the people will correct. Eventually they will choose Mitsotakis. And if they don’t in the first election, they will in the second.”
Finally, he supported changing the election law regarding the threshold for entry into Parliament, which “must go to 5%”, while on the discussion of a 200-member Parliament, he said “if we want to go there, we must go to single-member elections and abolish the cross.”
