Nice temperatures with a peak expected on Good Saturday include the weather forecast for the remainder of Holy Week with African dust and temperature instability in some areas making up the weather backdrop through Easter Sunday.
The forecast until Good Friday
According to meteorologist Dimitris Ziakopoulos, the main characteristics of the weather from tomorrow will be the strengthened SE winds in Western Greece, the rise in temperature throughout the country and short local rains mainly in the afternoon on the mainland. Otherwise, in the morning there will be local fog and conditions will be relatively favourable for the transport of dust from North Africa to our region.
On Thursday, localized showers are expected in the evening hours in western and northwestern Greece and at night in central-western Macedonia and Thessaly. SE winds in the Ionian Sea will reach 7 Beaufort and the temperature will be high for the season, mainly in the eastern and southern part of the country.
On Friday, local showers of short duration will occur in western and northwestern Greece as well as in the central and northern regions of the country. Winds will reach 6 Beaufort only in the southern seas and the temperature in the west, central and northern regions will drop slightly.
In the same vein, the forecast of meteorologist Anastasia Tyrakis, who predicts that on Wednesday we expect more sunshine, mainly in the eastern mainland and the Aegean and a slight rise in temperature.
On Maundy Thursday the south winds in the Ionian Sea will reach 8 Beaufort, the temperature will reach and locally exceed 25 degrees. On Good Friday, Good Saturday and Easter Sunday, generally enough sunshine, very occasional and local showers in the north, low winds and a temperature around 22 to 25 degrees.
Marousakis: High temperatures through Holy Saturday, good weather on Easter Sunday
Excellent weather conditions will prevail at the end of Holy Week, while according to Klearchos Marousakis, the weather on Resurrection Day and during the Epitaph procession will be equally good with only a few rains mainly in mountainous areas.
Of great interest is the mercury, as the temperatures will rise, near Maundy Thursday – Holy Saturday we will see temperatures close to 28 degrees Celsius, even 30 degrees.
The highest temperatures will be towards the central mainland, namely western Sterea and western Peloponnese, where we may touch 30 degrees. Celsius. High temperatures will also be in Thessaly, while further south, from Lamia and below, the mercury will again rise up to 28 degrees Celsius. In Athens we will have 27 degrees Celsius.
Regarding the procession of the Epitaphs, we do not expect rainfall on Good Friday, if there are some phenomena, they will come out towards noon, mainly some instability in northern Greece. The temperature for the Epitaph procession will be close to 15 degrees.
On Resurrection, on Holy Saturday night, if some showers come out, they will mainly affect the more northeastern part of our country.
Now on Easter Sunday with the spitting of the obelisk, very good weather conditions, 24 to 25 degrees, while if some showers come out they will affect the afternoon and as a rule in mountainous areas. No low altitude areas will be involved, only up in the mountains.
