Alexia Tsatsou, daughter of constitutional lawyer Dimitris Tsatsos, passes away at 54

Alexia Tsatsou, the lawyer and daughter of the prominent constitutional lawyer Dimitris Tsatsos, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54

The news of her death was announced by Andreas Loverdos.

Alexia Tsatsou was a member of the Athens Bar Association and served on the board of the Center for European Constitutional Law – Themistocles and Dimitris Tsatsos Foundation. She was also a member of the board at the Dimitris Tsatsos Institute for European Constitutional Studies.

She practiced at the State Legal Council and worked at the auction house Christie’s as a research and documentation manager for 19th-century paintings. She held positions at the Center for European Constitutional Law, Max-Planck Institute in Munich, and the National Technical University of Athens as an assistant to the legal advisor. She was a volunteer with the Merimna Association, animal welfare organizations, and the Smile of the Child.

She collaborated with the Legal Technical Advisor on urban planning, spatial planning, and environmental regulations related to Greece’s bid to host the World Expo. Additionally, she served as a special advisor to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

She was married to economist Nasos Hatzi Dimitriou and had two children.

The Tsatsos Foundation issued a statement mourning the loss of Alexia Tsatsou. It states:

“The Board of Directors of the Center for European Constitutional Law – Themistocles and Dimitris Tsatsos Foundation learned with great sorrow about the death of its long-time member and daughter of the foundation’s founder, Alexia Tsatsou.

Her contributions to our Foundation were invaluable. The board members bid her farewell with sadness.

In honor of her contributions and memory, the board resolves:

  • To express heartfelt condolences to her family.
  • To lay a wreath at her funeral and for a delegation, led by the Foundation’s President, to attend.
  • To make a donation to SOS Children’s Villages, according to the wishes of her family.
  • To publish the resolution and post it on the Foundation’s website.”
