An officer died during the training of the Underwater Demolitions Command

First aid was immediately provided, he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival

The Hellenic Armed Forces is mourning the loss of a second lieutenant during Underwater Demolitions Command training.

It was reported that the officer collapsed, first aid was immediately provided, however, when he was taken to Attica Hospital, he was pronounced dead.

The statement reads:

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 12:30 pm, during training at the Submarine Disaster Command, Lieutenant (PZ) S.M.

The Officer was immediately provided first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation actions were performed by appropriate medical personnel. He was subsequently evacuated to Attica Hospital where, despite the persistent efforts of the hospital’s medical staff, he was pronounced dead.

His relatives have been informed about the incident and the necessary steps have been taken to investigate the circumstances and causes. The Navy extends its sincere condolences to the family of our colleague.
