A fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon (April 29) at a store in the center of Patras, on Agiou Nikolaou Street, triggering an emergency response from the Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains unclear, but thick black smoke filled the surrounding area, alarming residents and passersby.
In response, 20 firefighters with seven fire engines, including a ladder truck, were dispatched. Reports confirm that a hotel located above the store was evacuated, where middle school students from Filiatra were staying.
An EKAB ambulance arrived on the scene and provided first aid to a woman who experienced breathing difficulties due to smoke inhalation.
