A senior Hamas official stressed that recent talks in Cairo made no progress on a new ceasefire agreement with Israel in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking to the Palestine Al-Youm TV channel, affiliated with Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Hamas official said they have not received any new proposals for a ceasefire in Gaza, stressing that the organization opposes any possibility of a partial or temporary ceasefire.
On Saturday, all five members of Hamas’ executive council were in Cairo and met with senior Egyptian officials.
Last night, Reuters reported, citing Egyptian sources, that significant progress had been made in talks to reach an agreement. Israeli officials also denied that significant progress had been made in the talks, but would not say that no progress had been made.
