Kostis Hatzidakis, Vice President of New Democracy, was elected Vice President of the European People’s Party (EPP) during the party’s congress in Valencia.
According to the voting results, other vice presidents elected were: Orpo, Tajani, McAllister, Muresan, Halicki, Suica, Brunner, McGuinness, and Rangel.

Following his election, Mr. Hatzidakis stated:
“I am deeply moved by my election as Vice President of the European People’s Party! Not only because I reconnect more closely with Brussels after 18 years, but also because New Democracy returns to the EPP vice presidency after 20 years. I thank Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Vangelis Meimarakis, our MEPs, and all my colleagues from the New Democracy delegation for their support. I also thank the many EPP delegates who honored New Democracy and Greece through me. Given that the European People’s Party is the largest in the EU, this new role enables not only me but also New Democracy to participate even more actively in the decision-making process in Brussels, to the benefit of our country!”
