Adults wildly beat a 50-year-old man in the middle of the road in Glyka Nera, with the man being hit in the head even with a skateboard, with the perpetrators leaving him bleeding. The victim is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at Evangelismos.

The beating took place outside an elementary school in Glyka Nera when two young men aged 15-16 approached the 50-year-old and beat him, even with a patini, for an as yet unknown reason, according to MEGA.

The man is fighting to stay alive in the ICU, having suffered a haematoma to the head. Witnesses say the middle-aged man is experiencing mental health problems, while residents told the channel they heard the young men saying to the 50-year-old: “stay as you are there, die.”

“We heard that he beat the gentleman up because he was picking on some girls. He punched him in the face, he fell down and split his head open,” a young man said. According to local residents and eyewitnesses who spoke to MEGA, the 50-year-old often made his way outside the school and was always friendly with the children.

“I saw the man lying on the ground, there was someone with him who gave him first aid and after a half hour or so the ambulance came and took him away. There was blood coming out of his head, he was turned on his side and there was some blood coming out of his nose, maybe from his head… His teeth were broken and he was having seizures. He was unconscious,” a local resident said.

The case is being investigated by the Northeast Attica Security Subdivision. Police are collecting CCTV footage and witnesses to come up with the identity of the perpetrators.
