A crime thriller is unfolding in Nea Chalkidona, where a 48-year-old Syrian woman was discovered dead in her home on Friday night. Police are treating the incident as a likely criminal act.

Shortly after 11 p.m., the woman’s 20-year-old son called the police, reporting he had found his mother lifeless in her bedroom, located in the basement apartment they shared on Perikleous Street.

Responding officers found the woman lying on her back on the bed. The apartment appeared ransacked, though the front door was locked from the inside.

Who Are Police Looking For?

According to police sources, investigators are searching for a man the woman had been romantically involved with in recent months after a breakup. He is currently considered a person of interest in the case.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are working to gather more evidence to determine the circumstances and motive behind the suspected homicide.
